We are delighted to announce that the Australian Cancer Risk Study is partnering with Cancer Australia to the implementation of the Australian Cancer Plan, specifically around the Australian Cancer Plan Action 1.2.4, to “Undertake ongoing assessment of the evidence for risk-based, cost-effective population cancer screening.”
Fellowship Success For Australian Cancer Risk Study Co-Lead, A/Prof Julia Steinberg
A/Prof Julia Steinberg, the co-lead of the Australian Cancer Risk Study, was awarded a Cancer Institute NSW Career Development Fellowship (2023-2026). The Fellowship will support further work leveraging genomic risk tools to improve early detection and outcomes for prostate cancer. Working closely with key stakeholders (including consumers, clinicians, researchers, and policy experts), Julia and her team will incorporate key considerations for future translation to practice.
Philip Ly, a PhD Candidate working on the Australian Cancer Risk Study was awarded the ‘Oral Presentation Winner’ among the Public Health presentations at the 2024 Cancer Research Network Postgraduate Research Symposium. Philip presented his work on ‘Integrating Polygenic Risk Scores in Prostate Cancer Risk Prediction: Model Development and Validation in UK and Australian Cohorts’.
PhD Candidate Awarded Competitive Australian Government Scholarship
Philip Ly, a PhD Candidate working on the Australian Cancer Risk Study has been offered the Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship. This is a competitive scholarship funded by the Commonwealth Government.
